UV protection per DIN EN 13758-1
Appropriate for:
- Clothing textiles
- Similar materials
Testing to determine UPF:
- Solar spectrum: Albuquerque, New Mexico (approximate to the solar spectrum of Southern Europe)
- New, unstretched and dry materials
- The requirements of DIN EN 13758-2 are not used in the testing program for the Hohenstein quality label
Certification:
- The quality label is issued upon conclusion of successful testing and valid contract
- Label is issued solely on the material test as per DIN EN 13758-1 and modified classification as per AS/NZS 4399 with the levels UPF 15, 30, 50 or 50+
- Depending on the product, modifications are possible, e.g. with regard to pretreatments
EU PPE Regulation
- Material testing and certification based on this standard is recognized as proof of UV protection compliance to the (EU) 2016/425 regulation on personal protective clothing
- The final product must meet all other requirements of the regulation
Submit samples for testing:
- At least 50 cm x 50 cm of each material and color, taken across the entire (or at least half of) the product width
- For certification, a finished product sample or sketch of each finished product
